Kawakawa has held a special place within rongoā māori for generations.

One story passed down tells of kawakawa being gifted to Papatūānuku to soothe, comfort, and restore her following her separation from Ranginui. Since that time, kawakawa has continued to be cherished for the support it offers to both tinana and wairua.

Traditionally, kawakawa has been treasured within rongoā māori for its many uses. Leaves and bark were used to support care for cuts, wounds, and stomach discomfort, while kawakawa was also known for its use in relation to toothache and everyday wellbeing.

Inspired by this mātauranga, our balm is carefully prepared using a slow cold infusion of kawakawa leaves in olive oil, before being blended with natural beeswax to create a smooth, nourishing balm for everyday skin care.
